Redesigned UITS News site delivers preferred content
The UITS News page is sporting a fresh look and a number of feature enhancements. The site has become a showcase for new approaches to delivering online news, aiming to meet you where you hang out online.
* Social networking via Facebook, Twitter, and Flicker: Join the UITS social network on your site of choice
* Sharing options for individual posts: Distribute articles and spotlights to other community members via non-UITS venues
* Tweets of interest: Follow IU’s top IT tweeters, tracking the latest conversations around campus
The site refreshments also answer your calls for improved web presence, providing helpful navigation, effective search, and more.
* Search suggestions display relevant posts as you type — view the graphic to the right to see how they work
* Hot topics: Empowering People, faculty, student, Oncourse, and security news
* Quick links to key info, including press releases, podcasts, support, training, job opportunities, and more
* Rotating spotlights: In-depth profiles of IU’s IT services and support, and the people behind them
* A tag cloud displaying key IT topics at a glance — the more popular a topic is, the larger its heading grows in the cloud (topics are linked too, so you can bring up all articles with a specific tag)
As part of Empowering People Action 13, other sites — such as the UITS home page and IT@IU — are also moving in this direction. To learn more about Empowering People, IU’s strategic plan for IT, visit: http://ep.iu.edu
Keep an eye out for future UITS site enhancements that promote an integrated look and feel, clear information architecture, and enhanced sharing of information and managed content.
