IUanyWare software service named TechPoint Mira Awards finalist

IU’s new cloud software service, IUanyWare, is a finalist for a TechPoint Mira Award in “Technology in Education Excellence & Innovation.” TechPoint is a nonprofit organization that represents Indiana’s technology community. Since 2000, the Mira Awards have recognized the movers and shakers of the state’s IT industry.

2013 TechPoint Mira Awards FinalistIUanyWare is a game changer for Indiana University. The client virtualization service allows IU’s 110,000 students — and all faculty and staff — to access critical software on any personal device, from PCs and Macs to tablets and smartphones. IUanyWARE runs on Citrix virtual technology from IU’s primary Data Center in Bloomington, using Indiana’s I-Light network to reach all campuses. With IUanyWare, students no longer need to install software required for course work.

“IUanyWare extends the classroom, lab and office to anywhere you are, on any device,” said Sue Workman, associate vice president of client services and support. “The service takes advantage of IU’s expertise in cloud-based computing and storage, and allows us to better utilize IU’s software licensing deals to accommodate everyone who needs them. It’s an honor to be named a TechPoint Mira Award finalist – and I think it’s a reflection of the teamwork between the university and our corporate partners Citrix, Microsoft and Box.”

This is not the first time IUanyWare has been recognized by the IT community. In 2012, Indiana University received a 2012 Campus Technology Innovators Award for IUanyWare. (Learn more at: http://go.iu.edu/6SS)
