Indiana University today announces SAGE as the latest publisher to sign on to its eTexts initiative. SAGE is now the 11th publisher to partner with the university to provide digital materials to students on all IU campuses.
This news comes on the heels of IU’s March 6 announcement that Cengage Learning joined the eText initiative.
“IU continues its great momentum of effective partnerships for digital learning materials,” said Brad Wheeler, IU vice president for information technology and chief information officer. “With these partnerships, we now have eText agreements with all of IU’s largest publishers – a milestone that will translate into even more cost savings for students.”
With IU’s eText initiative, students can highlight, add notes and collaborate with their peers and instructors through the Courseload software that is integrated with IU’s educational systems. The eTexts deals also include online simulations, tutors and labs that provide additional ways for students to learn.
SAGE is a leading international publisher of journals, books and electronic media for academic, educational and professional markets. Its publications span a wide range of subject areas including business, humanities, social sciences, science, technology and medicine.
IU faculty can now choose digital texts from Cengage Learning, Elsevier Science & Technology Books, Flat World Knowledge, Harvard Business School Publishing, IU Press, MacMillan, McGraw Hill, Pearson, SAGE, Wiley, and W.W. Norton — with other publishers to come.
IU’s eTexts program is steadily growing as faculty choose from an array of digital learning materials from leading publishers. In fact, IU’s spring 2013 semester marked nearly 10,000 students in 250 course sections saving and learning with eTexts.
