RT: Ramping up GitHub, retiring Subversion

GitHub and Subversion are version control systems that allow you to create code repositories for storing and managing program code and other text-based files. They’re great for tracking changes and for collaboration with multiple developers.

Research Technologies (RT) currently supports both GitHub and Subversion. However, RT recently decided to phase out Subversion on 12/31/2014, and hired another full-time GitHub administrator to support those who securely store software code in the Data Center.

If you have specific needs for SVN that are not met by GitHub, you can migrate to the Subversion service operated by UITS Enterprise Infrastructure.
